Because these operations only receive green waste and are generally in relatively isolated locations there is little risk of objectionable effects of odour arising. The rule effectively provides for existing operations that have not been subject to successful enforcement action to continue without the need for resource consents, and provides for new operations to be established provided buffer zones are sufficient.
Green waste are recycled into organic compost or mulch. These recycled materials are later used to enrich soils conserving precious landfill space and giving back to the earth. Fuel savings: by eliminating the need for multiple vehicles in servicing our clients we consume less fuel and decrease our environmental footprint. Environmental enhancement: less foilage on trees and shrubs through trimming minimize scarce water resources while maximizing views of the property beautifying and enhancing property values. Green waste is created by keen gardeners on the Gold Coast. In the past much of this ended up in landfill sites – which is a waste of valuable resources and unnecessary. When rotting in landfill sites this green waste also contributes to climate change by producing the 'greenhouse gas' methane which is thought to be up to 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide at contributing to global warming. Green waste are encouraged to contact their council for details.
Using Compost Heaps
Green waste are being delivered across the Gold Coast. By the end of this summer, all suitable properties will have received a 140 litre compost bin (unless they already have one) and a small silver kitchen caddy to enable residents to recycle all their food and garden waste. Most flats and apartments will receive a 20 litre container along with the kitchen caddy so that they can recycle their food waste.
The scheme will be rolled out in two phases. Once it is up and running, all waste and recycling will be collected on the same day, every week.chief waste management engineer at Gold Coast council, with the new green waste bins. Green waste are composted each year, producing 5,000 tonnes of compost.
Permits relatively small scale composting operations typically established at designated waste disposal sites and transfer stations.
